Information for Australian Government agencies about the activities of the Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner

You are here:

The Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner is keen to work with client agencies in building up their representatives’ expertise in handling the requirements of the scheme both through identifying any training needs and contact as individual issues arise.

The Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner has developed The model client: Promoting safe construction, a framework for integrating safety initiatives into the management of construction projects.

The resource consists of 5 booklets:

  1. The Model Client Framework
  2. The planning stage
  3. The design and procurement stage
  4. The construction stage
  5. The completion stage

Other resources include the Project OHS Process Map and a CD featuring Word versions of the resource materials. To download a copy of these resources click here.

The Guidance for Australian Government Agencies (formerly the Client Agencies Guide) outlines the operation of the Scheme with a particular focus on the role of the client agency. A list of practices associated with the "Model Client" is also included to highlight the objective of the accreditation scheme in improving the OHS performance of all concerned in the building and construction industry.
