How is consistency ensured across Federal Safety Officers?
Federal Safety Officers (FSOs) are appointed following a tender and selection process which includes an evaluation of the qualifications and experience held by the applicants.

Once appointed, FSOs undertake an induction course and receive ongoing training to ensure audits are conducted in a consistent manner. FSOs also participate in forums and other OFSC activities to provide guidance and feedback on the audits being undertaken.

FSOs are required to comply with the General Directions to Federal Safety Officers 1995, the APS Code of Conduct, and the Federal Safety Officer Compliance Guide.
