The Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner began accepting applications for provisional accreditation. |
| Late 2005 |
Federal Safety Officers commenced on-site auditing of head contractors seeking provisional accreditation under the Australian Government Building and Construction OHS Accreditation Scheme |
| 30 January 2006 |
Deadline for applications from companies seeking provisional accreditation under the Scheme by 1 March 2006. |
| 1 March 2006 |
Provisional accreditation became mandatory for head contractors wishing to contract with the Australian Government on building and construction projects with an estimated value of $6 million or more |
| 1 July 2006 |
The Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner began accepting applications for full accreditation. |
| 1 October 2006 |
All head contractors were required to hold either provisional or full accreditation to enter into Australian government directly funded building and construction contracts valued at $6 million or more. |
| 31 July 2007 |
All provisional accreditation granted on or after 31 July 2006 expired on this date. Provisional accreditation that was granted before 31 July 2006 expired on the date indicated in the certificate of accreditation. |
| 1 October 2007 |
The scheme was expanded to include head contractors for Australian Government directly and indirectly funded construction projects, subject to certain thresholds. |
