PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION BEFORE CONTINUING

Welcome to the OFSC Performance Comparison Tool. This tool has been developed to allow accredited contractors under the Australian Government Building and Construction OHS Accreditation Scheme (the Scheme) to compare their performance against up-to-date, industry specific OHS data.

The tool compares your performance against all other accredited contractors that undertook Scheme and / or non-Scheme projects and submitted biannual activity reports for the reference period and provides you with a company performance comparison.

HOW DO I USE THIS TOOL?

When you click on the “ENTER” button below, you will be asked to select between Scheme and non-Scheme projects and to input your organisation’s LTIFR (Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate) and / or MTIFR (Medically Treated Injury Frequency Rate). You do not have to enter both items - you can insert either or both items to obtain a comparison result.

Once you have entered your data, you should then click on the “CALCULATE” button to generate results.

WHAT IS LTIFR AND MTIFR?

The LTIFR and MTIFR are defined as:

The number of occurrences of lost time/medically treated injury for each one million hours worked.

To calculate each frequency rate for a period, the following algorithm should be used:

Number of incidences in the period
---------------------------------------------- X 1,000,000 (hours)
Number of hours worked in the period

WHAT DOES THE COMPANY PERFORMANCE COMPARISON MEAN?

The company performance comparison result (a percentile range) indicates how your organisation’s performance compares to other accredited contractors where 0% represents worst performance and 100% best performance for both LTIFR and MTIFR. Please note this has changed from the previous tool in order to make the result more easily interpreted as a score.

The comparison result range, also indicated on the chart by the vertical hashed area, allows you to visually check your comparison result (percentile range) to the performance of accredited contractors undertaking Scheme or non-Scheme projects.

Each chart also shows the average result (arithmetic mean) for accredited contractors undertaking Scheme or non-Scheme projects, and allows you to compare your result with the average result. The number of accredited contractors that performed better than average can be determined from the percentile (horizontal axis) corresponding to where the average series intersects the frequency rate.

For example, an accredited contractor performance comparison result of (20 to 30) out of 100 for Scheme LTIFR indicates that between 70 and 80 per cent of accredited contractors undertaking Scheme projects performed better and if the average series intersected the frequency rate at the 20th percentile, then 80 per cent of accredited contractors performed better than average.

WHAT DATA IS BEING USED TO COMPARE MY INFORMATION AGAINST?

This tool uses the latest biannual data provided by all accredited contractors and is updated every six months - usually around November and May of each year.
