Downer EDI Works Awarded for Excellence in Safety

Master Builders Australia’s annual National Excellence Awards recognise the achievements of the nation's best builders. The 2018 National Awards Dinner was held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Saturday 24 November. Downer EDI Works received the 2018 Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner (OFSC) National Excellence in Workplace Health and Safety Award for the company’s Tuggeranong Parkway project in Canberra. The award was presented by OFSC Accreditation Team Director, Catherine Box at the awards dinner on Saturday night.
“Downer EDI Works’ approach to safety incorporated all the elements of the National Excellence in Workplace Health and Safety Award. The project used higher order controls and a high level of consultation and worker involvement when managing workplace hazards.” said Mrs Box. “Downer EDI Works undertakes work on over 400 public roads each year and is using the successful approach to the Tuggeranong Parkway project, and the learnings identified following its completion, to positively influence projects going forward.”
Downer EDI Works has been accredited under the Federal Safety Commissioner’s Workplace Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme since 2007. Downer Group was reaccredited by the Federal Safety Commissioner in late 2016 for the maximum period of six years.
