FSC attends Queensland Construction Work Health Forum on 1 March 2016

The Federal Safety Commissioner, Alan Edwards, attended the inaugural Queensland Construction Work Health Forum at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on 1 March 2016. The Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner (OFSC) was also represented by Assistant Directors Meredith Robson and Catherine Box, who provided information to attendees about the safety and other benefits of Scheme accreditation at the OFSC booth.
The forum included a keynote address by Mark McCrindle, award-winning social researcher and author, who gave the audience insight in to the current climate of the construction industry and the potential impacts on the future of the industry. Attendees also heard from a variety of other industry leaders about the latest research and best practice for managing a variety of current work health safety issues within the construction industry.
Commissioner Edwards said “I thank Worksafe QLD for arranging this forum and particularly for providing a focus on health and safety risks that sometimes don’t get the attention they should – such as mental health and musculoskeletal injuries. Congratulations on a great initiative that was so well received by the many organisations and individuals who attended”.
