Halikos Construction has been awarded the 2017 Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner National Excellence in Workplace Health and Safety Award by Federal Safety Commissioner, Alan Edwards at the Master Builders Australia National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards in Hobart.

The award was received for the company’s New Henbury School project in Darwin. “The calibre of all of the award nominees was exceptional, demonstrating that companies are making safety a priority on their construction projects nationwide” said Mr Edwards. ”Halikos should be proud of their achievement in winning the award, as it is a testament to the high standards of safety they drive on their worksites”. The New Henbury School was also the first major public infrastructure project in Darwin that encompassed the new Northern Territory Government Indigenous Employment in Construction Policy.

Halikos Construction is the main building arm of Halikos Group, that has been accredited under the Federal Safety Commissioner’s Workplace Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme since 2008. Halikos Group was recently reaccredited by the Federal Safety Commissioner for the maximum period of six years, in recognition of their ongoing strong compliance with the accreditation scheme criteria.

The 2017 Master Builder’s National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards presentation dinner was held on 25 November at Princes Wharf 1 in conjunction with Master Builders Australia's National Conference in Hobart.
