Origin Alliance wins Safe Work Australia award
Origin Alliance has won the 2013 award for Best Workplace Health and Safety Management System at the 8th Annual Safe Work Australia Awards.
The joint venture completed by accredited contractors Abigroup Contractors, Fulton Hogan Industries, and Seymour Whyte Constructions, was recognised for its work on delivering the $1.95 billion Ipswich Motorway Upgrade: Dinmore to Goodna project. The Scheme project was delivered six months ahead of schedule and 10 per cent under budget with no Lost Time Injuries occurring. This was despite considerable challenges faced on the project, including live traffic conditions, demolition work and the 2011 Queensland floods. Origin Alliance was commended by the Safe Work Australia judging panel for a safety management system where everyone involved was accountable for safety.
Origin Alliance secured its place as a national finalist after winning the 2012 Queensland Safe Work award in the same category. The national award was presented at a ceremony held on 29 April 2013 at Old Parliament House, attended by the Federal Safety Commissioner (FSC), Mr Alan Edwards.
The FSC congratulates Origin Alliance on this achievement and its commitment to safety.
