Harry Butler Science Centre recognised as the OFSC’s 3,250th Scheme project
The Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner (OFSC) has reached another milestone under the Australian Government Building and Construction Work Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme (the Scheme), with the Harry Butler Science Centre recognised as the 3,250th Scheme project!
The project is being delivered by long-standing accredited builder SHAPE Australia and comes during the OFSC’s 20th anniversary year. This marks two decades of supporting safer construction on Commonwealth-funded projects.
Located at Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia, the Harry Butler Science Centre will support science education, research and community programs. Positioned near bushland and wetlands on Whadjuk Noongar Country, the project highlights the importance of careful planning and safe construction in environmentally sensitive areas.
The building is named after Harry Butler AO CBE, a respected Australian conservationist and educator whose work helped people better understand the relationship between people, development and the natural environment.
Reaching 3,250 Scheme projects reflects the ongoing contribution of accredited builders, workers and project teams across Australia. Over the past 20 years, the Scheme has helped lift safety standards, strengthen systems and support safer project delivery across the building and construction industry.
The Harry Butler Science Centre demonstrates how accredited builders continue to deliver projects under the Scheme while providing long‑term benefits for the community.
